NYWC: Angry Andy Reviews "Hotter Than Hell"

Mikey Whipwreck & The Great and Powerful O vs Mike Mondo and “Flawless” Blake Morris
Simple story to this one.  Standard tag match for a bit, until O knocks Mikey off the apron and into the guardrail. Later, when O goes to make the hot tag, Whipwreck drops off the apron and walks out, leaving O to lose clean.  Mikey beats down O afterwards.

What worked: I like Mikey playing a subtle heel.  I love not really knowing what’s coming next.  I like O being surrounded by solid workers, who can help make him look as good as his physique.

What made me angry: Nothing made me angry, per se, but I had trouble getting into this one, after the shenanigans in the last one.

Fantasy booking: I’ve mentioned before that I want to see some new faces in the main event scene, and since this show, I had a thought.  When this feud wraps, I want to see an NYWC title change.  I don’t want to see the belt go back to O, or Mondo.  I want to see the NYWC Championship on the waist of “Flawless” Blake Morris.

He’s been mixing it up with the main event guys for quite some time, but hasn’t really had his own run at the top.  I think he could have a bunch of great matches with different opponents, that will all feel VERY fresh with Morris in the spotlight.

Overall, this was a good show with a lame crowd.  NYWC returns to action with TWO shows in September.  The first is TRUCK HOUSE BRAWL. It’s a benefit show for the Islip Fire Department.  It’ll be held at the firehouse on Friday, September 19th.  Juicy Product vs Reckless & Wasted headlines.

NYWC returns to the Sportatorium eight days later, on Saturday, September 27th, for TILL I COLLAPSE.  Nothing’s been announced yet, but if you’ve been paying attention to these reviews, you can probably figure out what’s coming next.

See you at the shows!
