I’m a big fan of the Kentucky Gentleman. His work in Chikara is a lot of fun. He’s gold in the ring, and his crowd interactions are straight-up MONEY. If you need proof of how good this guy is, check out Chikara’s season premiere this Sunday, just before the Royal Rumble. Sexy Chucky T challenges Icarus for the Grand Championship…and I’ll be cheering for the Rudo. That should speak volumes.
The Upside: Pro wrestling is all about the fan interaction. The saying goes “people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.’ Chuck Taylor is a master of interacting with the crowd, making his match feel serious, but interjecting moments of levity with the folks in the seats.
He’s a beast when it comes to messing with children. He’s a house show DREAM. And, for TV purposes, he’d be a great tool to fill out your X-division, the tag division, or both.
The Risk: Like a lot of guys on this list, Chuck isn’t the biggest dude. And there’s a big risk that his indy, house-show-only humor doesn’t translate to TV crowds. We see that a lot when NXT talents get called up. We could see it here, too.
