Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar
Steel Cage Match, WWE Championship
Like it or not, this is the WWE Championship match that makes the most sense. Nothing else comes close. Nothing.
Brock is the biggest marquee draw in the company. Roman is “the next big thing,” for all intents and purposes. They need to work together.
Luckily, you have last year to build on. Both men were screwed out of the title by Seth Rollins, who weaseled his way in and managed to leave as WWE Champion. Not again.
I penciled this in as a cage match for multiple reasons. The first of which is the folklore of the cage match, in which it prevents all outside interference, so the competitors actually settle their issue. No Rollins run-ins. No funny business.
All business.
Second, you need to build from last year. The match these guys were having, pre-Rollins, was pretty solid… but it was nothing solid. Doing the same match exposes the limitations of both workers. Adding the cage gives these guys a new element to play with. It gives them room to for new, creative spots… and it provides a gimmick, to avoid overexposing either man. Everybody wins.
This time around, the only real option is that Roman Reigns wins, clean. The crowd may not love it, but it’s the right call.
