John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

I was a lot more interested in this match when I thought the US title was on the line.

I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m still pretty pumped for this match… but knowing that nothing tangible on the line takes it down a peg for me.

This match has had an interesting build. John Cena trying (and failing) to generate dueling “Let’s go Cena” – “Fight Owens Fight!” chants. Kevin Owens, in back-to-back weeks, annihilating the United States Champion with pop-up powerbombs, standing on the US Championship, and standing tall with the NXT title.

I’ll be angry if: Cena wins clean. Without the title on the line, or a clear main-roster plan for Owens, it doesn’t make sense to beat him.

I’ll keep my cool if: Owens wins, or they go to a double-DQ type finish. If Owens wins, he can brag about how the NXT Champion is bigger than the 15-time WWE World champion. He can brag about how he’s conquered the competition on both rosters. And when he comes back to the main roster – permanently – Owens will have a ready-made feud built and waiting with the man he beat. And if it’s a non-finish… he gets to come back and finish what he started.

I’m expecting…: Owens gets the DQ/ref stoppage win by powerbombing John Cena over and over, until every child in the arena is crying.
