Mikey Whipwreck vs “Flawless” Blake Morris

NYWC Championship Match

Big brawl to start.  Morris teased using a chair on Mikey in the ring…but took a seat, while locking Mikey in a hold.  He later wedged the chair in the corner and, well, anyone who has played WWE 2K14 knows how that spot ends.
Finish sees one ref take a bump, and another come out as Morris hits his finish to win the NYWC championship.  Nice crowd reaction to the title change, by the way.

After the match, Mike Mondo comes out, congratulating his protégé on his win, and demanding he hand the title over.  Morris refuses, leaving with his new title to close out the show.

What I liked: Fun match.  I popped for the title change.  I also popped for the fact that I called a Morris title win a few months back, and just got exactly what I asked for.  I also predicted a Morris face turn, which was teased here, but remains to be seen.

Morris as NYWC Champion creates a lot of possibilities for new main event feuds in matches, whether he works as a heel or a face.  One of my biggest complaints about NYWC earlier this year was that the same handful of guys seem to monopolize the main event.  Morris as champ really shakes that up, and creates some exciting new opportunities.
