The JMS Renew Review: WrestleMania XXXIV

Overview

A very good, if not super great, WrestleMania that managed to go the full seven hours without being soul crushing. If judging based on show inflation, this would be up with the WrestleMania XXX and X-Seven‘s of the Universe. However, that’s not how this works, and WrestleMania instead ends up a sliver above WrestleManias like X-8 and VIII, as nice a place as any.

The MATCH OF THE NIGHT was by my count the Ronda Rousey/Kurt Angle vs. HHH/Stephanie McMahon match, not because it was technically perfect but because it was such a well executed gameplan that did exactly what it set out to do on every level. It’s rare that so many things go right, especially on that kind of stage with those kind of stakes, so everyone involved should extremely happy with the work they did not just for the show last night but for Ronda’s career (and with it, the WWE’s success) going forward.

Show total: 6.8

Match Avg.: .6181, .618 if you’re nasty.
