Sumie Sakai vs. Marti Belle
Marti Belle is making her return after an in-character suspension, and she looks GREAT. Sumie attacks her before the bell. Marti takes over and locks in a hold. Sumie tells the ref, and I quote “she cheating me!” She accuses Marti of pulling her hair and biting her. When she takes over, she does both to Marti. Marti sells forever, before finally making a comeback with closelines and forearms. Marti wins with a pedigree, to advance to round 2.
What I liked: This was a good match, with really good storytelling throughout. I made a note that this was the “best and most fun match so far,” as a reminder of how much I truly enjoyed it. Sumie really played up her heel role well, and Marti looked great in her return.
