Andy Will Be Angry If…: The Usos vs. The Dudley Boyz

The Buildup

When Bully Bubba Ray and Devon made their WWE returns, fans immediately began talking about the fantasy matches that could now become reality. The Dudley Boys vs. The New Day. The Dudley Boys vs. The Prime Time Players. The Dudley Boys vs. Los Matadores.

Alright, they’re not all winners. But The Dudley Boys vs. The Usos was a legitimate dream match in modern-day tag team wrestling. The Dudleys were one of the best fun-but-generic teams of the late 90s and early 2000s. The Usos fill the same role now. They’re both wildly over with the crowds that actually matter, and both teams put on good matches on a regular basis.

This match, when announced, seemed like it would be a really good “passing of the torch” moment. Now that we know it’s a preshow match, it seems like less of a moment, and more of a quality, but meaningless, midcard match. That’s fine 11 months out of the year, but I think we all expect a little bit more at WrestleMania.

Oh, by the way… there’s only one way this match possible ends: An Uso win, with the Dudleys going through tables.
