NYWC: Angry Andy Enters the House of Madness

Fighting Spirit Championship match

This is a showcase match for another local group, FSW, who occasionally runs in this neck of the woods.  Crowd didn’t seem to know either guy, and didn’t react to much of anything until the finish.  My biggest objection here is that while the moves were mostly executed well, there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of psychology. If you listen to Jim Ross’ podcast, this is the kind of match he’s talking about when he says young guys need to slow down, and make everything they’re doing count.  This same match could have been much better with half as many moves, twice as much selling, and the same amount of time.  Just my two cents.

What I liked: For guys who probably knew the crowd wouldn’t be there, they really tried hard.

What made me angry: I could have done without the match altogether. I don’t know why the FSW match is on the NYWC show. I don’t know why this guy is the number one contender, or why the other is champion.  And I don’t know who’s the face, who’s the heel, and if there’s a personal issue between them.  No disrespect intended toward FSW or its workers, but this watch just a random match, between two random guys, for a random belt.
