WWE Tag Team Championship Match

New Age Outlaws (C) vs. The Usos

Best Case Scenario: The Usos comes as close as is humanly possible to winning before having defeat snatched from the jaws of victory by Authority interference, getting the Usos involved in the main storyline in the company, while also giving something for them to look forward to at WrestleMania.
What Will Happen: Outlaws win. The internet explodes, because the internet doesn’t understand how wrestling works.

Given the results of the first tag match of the night, and the way this one ended — with Billy grabbing a handful of tights — it seems very likely we are hurdling towards some sort of multi-team tag match at the biggest event of the year. And while not exactly a barnburner, this match more than did its job: put the company in a position to have the Usos, or whoever ends up winning the title at WrestleMania. Mid-tier PPVs, or whatever they call them in the future, exist almost entirely for the advancement of storylines as they build towards the major shows. To act like this match would have been better served by anything other than direct interference for the Authority kind of misses the whole point. The New Age Outlaws, for all their flaws, are definitely names that people know and have paid to see wrestle in the past. Which means that they will likely continue to  do so for the foreseeable future. Whether or not we like that is fundamentally irrelevant to the facts, which posit pretty clearly that the storyline is best served by the Usos losing unfairly on this card, which will then lead to a more anticipated match at the next show.
The Usos are almost assuredly future Tag Team champions, and have been on the main roster for nearly four years, so an extra few weeks before they get the gold doesn’t really seem that bad relatively. And while this match wasn’t anything to write home about, it definitely DID give us SOMETHING to go on into the future, no matter how small it may have appeared to be on Sunday.
