The Big Guy Strikes Again

They came back briefly, but this match continued the push by the WWE to excise Goldberg chance from Ryback matches, having him work with talented performers who can allow him to be entertaining for a full length match. It’s also fairly remarkable to see someone not just toss Ryback around, but do so while being considerably (between 70-80 lbs) smaller like Cesaro. For once, in fact, the commentating team should be praised for pointing out that while he’s widely considered the strong man “pound for pound” in the company, the WWE is a land of true giants, allowing both man to look impressive simply by virtue of context and visual similarities.

The Ryback will also be far better off going forward if, unless it’s a squash/title match of some sort, he isn’t given any real time to set up his Meat Hook clothesline and/or Shellshocked. The loss of the accompanying “Feed Me More” every few matches will add a new dimension to the moves, and more significantly, the anticipation for these moves.

And, while a great deal of circumstantial evidence seems to point to Cesaro being “buried”, between his ring time in title matches and little moments like the one he got at the end of the night trolling Team Cena, it’s clear that while they don’t have a place for him right now, Cesaro isn’t in danger of anything other than having to take a finisher from someone higher on the card than him.
