Papadon vs. Tony Nese
Papadon started with a promo talking about what happened last month with Nese, and talking about next month’s Master of the Mat match. Nese comes out and says he’s going to win the match at Psycho Circus.
Match gets started, and these guys do their thing. I’ve talked at length about how good these guys are, and how much I like their work. As expected, this was pretty good…until the bell rang, and we had a ten minute draw. Crowd chants for five more minutes and, against all wrestling tropes, we actually got it. Crowd loved that. The action continues for five more minutes until the bell rings again, ending in a draw.
After the match, it’s announced that this year’s Master of the Mat match will feature previous winners, in a “Grandmaster of the Mat” match, with Nese, Papadon and Drew Gulak.
What I liked: Great match. These guys are awesome in the ring, so that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone at all. I like Papadon leaning back towards being a heel. I also like these guys having a showcase to show off. My inner smart mark will always eat that up.
What made me angry: If anything, it was that the 10 minute time limit was announced before the match. It was the only match with an announced time limit, so the ending was pretty obvious.
