NYWC Championship Match

The Big O vs. “Flawless” Blake Morris (c)

Pre-match, Blake tells DJ Hyde that he doesn’t need him anymore. He says O deserves a fair 1-on-1 match for the title.

Match starts with the crowd chanting for O, to the beat and cadence of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.  That was pretty funny, and really contagious.

This match was crazy for a while, with both guys giving the other everything they had. Crowd lost its mind for a double countout, but the match is quickly restarted.  O kills Morris with three powerbombs, but only got near falls after each.

After each one, Morris challenged O to kill him.  DJ Hyde runs in and lays out the referee. then lays out O. He tells Blake to go for the pin, but he refuses the dirty victory, and fires DJ.  O hits Morris with a chokeslam off the top for the win and the title change.  Post-match handshake and big pops for both guys.

What I liked: This was intense.  Far and away the best match I’ve ever seen O have, and an incredible display of just how good Morris really is.  Earlier this year, I guessed that he had a run with the big belt coming, and I was right… and matches like this are why I knew he deserved it.  I’m curious and excited to see what comes next.
