NYWC: Angry Andy (And Nick!) Review April Reign

Tag Team Championship Match

Milk Chocolate (c) vs. Flawless & Lawless

Pre-match promo from Milk Chocolate, who have been given the chance to pick their opponents for tonight. They choose the team of “Flawless” Blake Morris and Rex Lawless.

This match was great. Lots of creative double-team offense from both teams. My favorite was Flawless & Lawless’ new finish – which sees Rex lift the guy up for a chokebomb, and Blake come off the top with a blockbuster. It looks solid. They had it won with that move, which I feel really needs a clever name, but DJ Hyde ran into the ring. He kills Blake, Rex, AND the referee, so Milk Chocolate keep the belts.

A subtle story I liked in this one… pre-match, Milk Chocolate referred to Flawless & Lawless as their friends. Throughout, Brandon Watts looked hesitant to go full heel on them, often hesitating, or simply tagging out to Randy Summers. I liked it a lot.

Nick says: My second favorite segment of the night, this is precisely what a tag title match before a giant show should be. It told a cohesive story that articulated some very specific bits of characterization without beating the crowd over the head with any of it. These four can all go, and Watts in particular was taking bumps that were as crisp as they were spectacular.

And while I enjoyed the David Starr-J.Ro match more in the moment, I am extremely interested in seeing the EXCITING CONCLUSION of this storyline at the Fusion show next month.
