Bang for Your Buck PPV Review: Survivor Series 2014

Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match

Emma, Naomi, Alicia Fox & Natalya vs. Paige, Cameron, Summer Rae & Layla

What Nick Wants to Happen: Just enough of the younger performers to get the ground interested in the idea of them, but not so much that people (Jerry, I’m looking at you, pal) start chanting “we want puppies” because their attention spans have been stretched too far by newness.

Not surprisingly, after Cameron left and all of the performers that actually know their way around a ring — something I wouldn’t be saying about anyone who, I don’t know, which way a pin works — were allowed to explore the studio space, this went from okay if not at all riveting, to genuinely exciting as members of Paige’s team were picked off one by one before she was finally given her heelish comeuppance. Paige always looks best when playing a genuine heel: loudly calling her opponents stupid, using dirty tricks and running away when the odds are stacked against her, but she also played the role of hero because of her excellent in-ring work to near perfection once she was actually forced to work alone against Alicia’s band of merry divas.

Also, while it wasn’t on camera nearly as much as it should be, Tyson Kidd’s performance during the match on social media and the periphery of the television presentation just continues to boost his case for a run with a major title in his relatively near future. He’s not the hero the WWE deserves, but he’s the hero we need right now.

Match +.5 (including +.2 for Tyson Kidd) | PPV 1.25
