Rusev vs. Big E.

The only person with more momentum than him and the Ravishing Russian is Roman Reigns, and that momentum is not going to be stopped by a guy who can’t even figure out to wave the flag.

This is where we’ll get into the “slightly cheating because your correspondent watched the next episode of the series before reviewing the previous one” part of the show, as major developments happened in regarding several of the matches moving forward. That this relatively quick destruction of someone who we thought was going to be a major player going forward — mostly because they repeatedly told us he would — set up a wonderfully over the top, and more importantly not interrupted, segment where Rusev was allowed to appear as a dominant heel who happens to be foreign and not “guy we should hate because AMERICA!” boosts the rewatchability of this event, while also making Big E not look like a pile of dog crap.

They very clearly realized they pushed Big E way too hard way too quickly, and have to let him build a natural rapport with the crowd. The crowd will always cheer for him to spear someone through the ropes, but letting them know it’s coming so they can get super excited for it is just as important. That day will come, and when it does, he will likely replace John Cena as Superman (sorry, Cesaro) in the WWE comic book Universe.
