It’s one of the biggest and fastest-growing problems in what we will likely refer to as the “Network Era.” WWE thinks it already has your money, and as a result, doesn’t try too hard to make you spend it.
Case in point: the build to Survivor Series.
We are now less than two weeks away from what was, traditionally, one of the biggest shows of the WWE calendar year. What do we know so far? John Cena’s team will battle the authority. That’s it.
There are a few things we should probably expect to see on this show, but right now, it’s all rumor and speculation.
That wouldn’t be enough to get me to spend $9.99 a month. It’s barely enough to get me to drive to Nick’s to take advantage of his $9.99.
And considering this is the free month, that WWE is supposed to be using to convince you to buy this thing, well… you get the idea.
Regardless of WWE’s half-assed pay-per-view promotion, I think this show could (and should) be pretty decent—not only in terms of in-ring action, but in terms of overall network promotion. It’s time for some fantasy booking. If you do your own fantasy booking, you may come to realize (as I did) that the main roster is pretty light right now…. But there’s a simple solution for that.
Let’s get to it, shall we? Here’s my Survivor Series card, starting with the main event.
Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match
Team Cena (John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Dean Ambrose) vs. The Authority (Seth Rollins, Kane, Rusev, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro)
Of course, so far, we only have Cena & Ziggler vs Rollins and Kane confirmed. But the rest just make sense, don’t they? I see this one coming down to Cena and Sheamus s Rollins. Sheamus TURNS, helping Rollins pin Cena’s shoulders in the middle of the ring, then lays down himself. Sheamus becomes Rollins’ well-dressed back-up, and Kane spends more time hanging around Triple H and Stephanie.
