Andy Will Be Angry If…: The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon

Best Case Scenario

This is a hard one.

Regardless of the outcome, we know that the best case scenario here involves some sort of death-defying stunt from Shane McMahon.

That said…. is it best to have Undertaker win and keep his WrestleMania career intact, or to have Shane win and immediately shake-up the status quo of present-day WWE?

For the short-term, a Shane McMahon victory would be fantastic. Based on the promos from Shane, we’d see more “deserving” wrestlers given a shot over the protected performers the fans refuse to accept as top stars.

It would be a “viewers’ choice” show, and would probably generate great crowd reactions… at least in the short-term. It would also lead to some fun fantasy matches and feuds, and probably some big NXT call-ups.

Long-term, however, and Undertaker win makes the most sense. The crowd isn’t exactly clamoring for more McMahon family drama on TV, considering we’ve been swimming in it for 20 FUCKING YEARS. The crowd supports Shane as a beloved nostalgia act, but loves Undertaker (and, rightfully so) as an undeniable legend. It makes the most sense to have the Undertaker win, in the match that he made famous, on the grandest stage in professional wrestling.

The fans did not react positively when Brock Lesnar, a legitimate monster and former WWE and UFC World Heavyweight Champion, ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania. Keeping that in mind, it may be best not to have his entire WrestleMania run ended by a non-wrestler… though the post-match show of respect from the crowd would be truly amazing.
