Andy Will Be Angry If…: AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho

Worst Case Scenario

Jericho vs. Fandango seemed like a good idea on paper. Give a talented young guy a big win, in his first match, on the grandest stage in professional wrestling.

Great in theory… until you realize you have absolutely zero follow-up plan.

Fandango floundered in the weeks and months that followed and, eventually… fell off the radar altogether. Part of the blame has to fall on a poorly-timed injury, but at the end of the day, WWE had no real plans to push the former Johnny Curtis, or give him any kind of meaningful storyline.

The fans caught on, and tuned out.

Suddenly, the big win over Jericho meant absolutely nothing. Jericho’s loss hurt him, too — considering he lost a huge match to an absolute chump.

That loss was recently avenged in a 90-second squash match on Raw… but the damage was done.

Fandango will never recover. AJ Styles cannot suffer the same fate.

Win, lose or draw, WWE needs a solid plan for Styles going forward, whether it involves a chase for a championship, another feud, or both. If not, he may as well start searching for dancing partners.
